In this tutorial, we go to check WiFi passwords of pre-connected WiFi networks in your computer. That means if you have ever connect to friend’s WiFi and you are eager to know the password because he doesn’t want to tell you, well this tutorial is for you.

This process is the simplest, easiest, fastest and straight forward process. You would know your desired WiFi password in less than 1 minute. Lets Begin…

First, open command terminal(CMD) as administrator like the picture below. This is can be done by pressing on your windows key on your keyboard and typing “Command Prompt” OR “CMD”

Note: Please be aware this works on any Windows. I’m using windows 11 in this case but it works on any Windows computer.

Accept the user permission,

Inside Command Prompt type this code “netsh wlan show profile” and click enter key on your keyboard just as shown in the image below.

You will see all WiFi your computer has ever connected to. Now take note of the WiFi name you’re trying to get the password OR copy the name by highlighting on the name and copying it by press CTRL + C on your keyboard.

The command line command “netsh wlan show profile ‘TARGET WLAN  SSID(NAME)’ key=clear” followed by the “Enter” key on the keyboard.


You would get result like the image below showing you the password incuded which is Key Content and the WiFi password is ADMINonly in this case. The password would be the password to the WiFi you are looking for

To confirm it works. Disconnect and forget the WiFi then use the password you got from CMD (Command Prompt) to re-connect to the WiFi.

Something to pay attention to is, the method of checking WiFi only works if the computer has been previously connected to the WiFi before. To know which WiFi networks the computer has been previously connected to, navigate to your setting (WIN + I) >> Network & Internet >> WiFi >> Manage known networks, your screen would look like the below image.

That is how easy it is to check previously connected WiFi password on your computer in less than 2 minutes.
